psychosexual therapy
Sex is one of our most intimate acts, often leaving us feeling vulnerable and hesitant to discuss it openly. Psychosexual therapy is a specialised form of talk therapy that offers a safe space to explore and understand the nuances of intimacy, sexuality, and pleasure—whether you’re an individual or in a relationship.
This therapeutic approach empowers you with the knowledge and confidence to understand your mind and body, how you function, and what you truly need and desire. It also provides tools to navigate relational challenges, such as:
Differences in Desire and Arousal: Understanding and harmonizing mismatched sexual appetites.
Communication Barriers: Overcoming difficulties in discussing sexual needs and desires.
Relationship Challenges: Addressing the impact of conflicts, breaches of trust, and transitions in relationship dynamics, whether in monogamous, polyamorous, or consensually non-monogamous arrangements.
Recovery and Reconfiguration: Supporting recovery from affairs or broken agreements and helping renegotiate new relationship boundaries.
At Elemental, I am committed to providing a safe, non-judgmental environment where every facet of sexuality can be explored. This includes addressing:
Body Function: Performance concerns, low desire, and overcoming sexual shame.
Sex or Porn Addiction: Exploring and understanding sexuality and sexual preference.
Sexual Confidence: Building assertiveness and fostering healthy sexual self-esteem.
Medical and Fertility Concerns: Navigating fertility complications, medical conditions, and medication side effects.
Reproductive Counseling: Offering support before conception, as well as before and after abortion.
Trauma Recovery: Healing the legacy of trauma on sexual identity and function.
I am dedicated to a gender-affirming, sex-positive approach that welcomes individuals across the full spectrum of gender identities, sexual orientations, and relationship structures. By honouring the diversity of human connection, we can work together to build authentic, fulfilling, and sustainable relationships.
Currently, I am completing another Masters, Science in Medicine (psychosexual/sexology pathway) at The University of Sydney. This study pathway is specialist training in psychosexual therapy / sexual health counselling / sexology. The curriculum explores human sexuality from a psychosexual therapeutic perspective, studying variations in sexual function, sexual and gender diversity, HIV and STIs, as well as issues pertaining to ageing and sexuality, disability and sexuality, and different models of therapeutic interventions.
